Oregon City's Lila Rollins wins National American Miss Oregon Teen pageant (youroregonnews.com) — Oregon City teen Lila Rollins has been crowned National American Miss Oregon Teen after just her second year in pageants, and she's now preparing for nationals in Orlando this November. The Oregon City resident and Clackamas Community College–bound student credits local volunteer work, early-college studies, and strong coaching for helping her top a competitive field and is seeking sponsorships to fund her national trip.
2. How Oregon renters are becoming homeowners with support from a local nonprofit, 1 family at a time (hereisoregon.com) — Income-qualified residents in Oregon City can soon buy renovated homes on leased land through the Keys to Clackamas program, with prices estimated between $250,000 and $300,000—well below market. The nonprofit DevNW pairs these homes with financial coaching, down-payment assistance, and long-term affordability protections so working families can move from renting to stable homeownership across Clackamas County.
3. Public hearings on potential data center moratorium (clackamas.us) — Clackamas County commissioners are weighing a temporary moratorium on new data centers, and they're inviting your input at two public hearings at the county's Kaen Road building in Oregon City or via Zoom. Residents can testify in person, online, or by email as officials explain the criteria for a moratorium that could shape future land use, energy, and infrastructure decisions.
4. Oregon Arts Commission Awards $150,000 in Arts Learning Grants (theashlandchronicle.com) — A $10,000 Oregon Arts Commission grant will help Parrott Creek Child & Family Services in Oregon City expand its Tilt/Shift Photography Program for at-risk youth, using art to build coping skills and creative confidence. Fourteen other organizations statewide also received Arts Learning grants to strengthen K-12 arts education in underserved communities.
5. North Clackamas Park and Recreation District Board considers final IGAs with City of Milwaukie (clackamas.us) — From its Oregon City base, the North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District board will consider final intergovernmental agreements with Milwaukie at its Oct. 1 meeting. The deals would update a long‑standing cooperative agreement and advance funding and construction for Milwaukie Bay Park's next phase, with documents and live video available through Clackamas County's website and YouTube channel.
