Beavercreek Man Charged With Manslaughter Following Death Of Molalla Resident: Police

Howard Bunnell Jr. allegedly killed Alvin Wallenstein on Monday, but police are still trying to put together what happened.

BEAVERCREEK, OR — Following a Beavercreek man's arrest for manslaughter, Clackamas County Sheriff's officials are asking the public for more information about the circumstances leading up to the death of Alvin Edward Wallenstein of Molalla.

According to police and court documents obtained by Patch, Howard Dean Bunnell Jr., 47, was arrested and lodged at the Clackamas County jail on Aug. 21 following a reported domestic disturbance in Beavercreek, which ultimately resulted in Wallenstein's death. Bunnell is charged with manslaughter and unlawful use of a weapon. His bail is set at $1 million.

Around 7:30 p.m. Monday, after receiving reports of two men fighting, sheriff's deputies arrived at Bunnell's home in Beavercreek, located at 17380 S. Buckner Creek Rd. There officers found Wallenstein, 45, dead from a gunshot wound to his chest, police said.

Why the pair were fighting, and why Bunnell allegedly killed Wallenstein, are still unknown, police said.
