Clackamas Community College Gets Millions to Train Youth for Tech Jobs
The $3.5 million grant will help youth and young adults get ready for the new economy.

Clackamas Community College is getting $3.5 million from the United States Department of Labor to help train youth and young adults for jobs in the tech industry.
Clackamas Community College - working with Clackamas Workforce Development - is one of 39 partnerships in 25 states to receive $150 million in grants.
The CCC program, Techhire Clackamas, looks to prepare and place youth, young adults, and low-wage workers into full time positions in targeted advanced manufacturing jobs.

"This program is about getting people trained as quickly as possible and getting them into jobs," Cynthia Risan, CCC dean of Technology, Health Occupations/Workforce, said.

CCC will use the money to create programs resembling boot camps where they get the skills to get a job such as an industrial maintenance technician and a limited maintenance electrician.
This grant will help people in Oregon City, Wilsonville, Lake Oswego and other parts of Clackamas County.
