Clackamas County Budget Committee Will Consider More Jail Beds, More Deputies

Should the sheriff's office be able to hire six more deputies?

Should the office get the money to add 26 new beds to the county jail?

These are among the issues the Clackamas County Budget Committee will confront when they meet on Tuesday.

The committee is trying to figure out how to balance county spending priorities with what the sheriff office sees as its needs.

Among other issues, the sheriff's office is looking to once again be fully staffed. Currently there are 15 vacancies including eight uniformed positions.
