Construction On New Clackamas Fire District Station 16 Begins Oct. 9

The new station is expected to be completed by Fall 2018, officials said. The previous station, built in 1972, was closed due to toxic mold.

OREGON CITY, OR — Clackamas Fire District #1 officials announced on Friday that construction for Hilltop Fire Station 16 will begin Monday, Oct. 9. Administrators on Wednesday held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new station, which will be located at 19340 Molalla Ave. in Oregon City. Officials expect the building will be complete by Fall 2018.

Construction is funded by a 2015 voter-approved general obligation bond of $29 million, according to district spokesman Steve Hoffeditz. The new, 12,000-square-foot station is expected to serve 17,500 residents across roughly eight square miles.

The previous Station 16, built in 1972, was closed after administrators discovered toxic mold in May 2016. Since then, fire crews have worked out of a modular home, which will now be moved to the Clackamas Community College campus in Oregon City, Hoffeditz said. After that, the old Station 16 site will be closed until the new station is complete.
