Crash Ends Car Chase In Clackamas County: WATCH

Clackamas County deputies say no one was injured in a car crash on Highway 22 Monday morning, following a stolen car pursuit in Clackamas.

CLACKAMAS, OR — An alleged car thief's pursuit came to an end in Clackamas after he failed to negotiate a turn and crashed into a median, according to Clackamas County Sheriff's officials.

Ryan Douglas Vanhorn, 35, was lodged at the Clackamas County Jail on charges of attempt to elude a police officer, reckless driving, reckless endangering, unlawful use of a vehicle, and possession of methamphetamine. His bail is set at $35,000.

Deputies reportedly found Vanhorn in a stolen BMW on Southeast Sunnyside Road, near the Clackamas Town Center, around 11 a.m. Sept. 4. When deputies initiated a traffic stop, Vanhorn allegedly sped away, leading deputies on a chase that ultimately ended on Highway 22 near Southeast McKinley Avenue — after Vanhorn failed to make a turn and instead crashed the BMW into a low concrete median, officials said.

Vanhorn immediately surrendered following the crash, officials said, noting that Vanhorn was given precautionary medical aid though he was uninjured.

Court documents obtained by Patch show Vanhorn has a history of stolen vehicle/attempt to elude convictions in Multnomah, Yamhill, and Clackamas counties. His most recent (possession of meth and possession of a stolen vehicle) occurred in Multnomah County in May.
