Drunk Driver Hits Three Road Workers, Killing One, Police Say
Fedsot Tsopko was charged with manslaughter and DUII after a crash in Happy Valley that left one road construction worker dead, police say.

HAPPY VALLEY, OR β An alleged drunk driver hit three road workers in Happy Valley Tuesday afternoon, killing one, according to Happy Valley police.
Portland resident Fedsot A. Tsopko, 51, has been lodged at the Clackamas County Jail and charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII) and manslaughter, police said. Tsopko's bail has been set at $252,500.
Around 12:30 p.m. May 23, Tsopko reportedly drove his 1990 Lexus 4D into a "well-marked construction zone" near the intersection of Southeast 122nd Avenue and Southeast Yoakum Lane in Happy Valley, police said, hitting the flagger who was stopping traffic before the road work area. After hitting the flagger, Tsopko continued into the construction area, police said.

Moving north on Southeast 122nd Avenue, Tsopko reportedly hit two of the construction workers, killing one, before leaving the road and rolling the Lexus onto its side, police said.
The worker killed was identified by the sheriff's office on Wednesday afternoon as Pablo Dominguez-Amezcua, 48, of Portland. The other two men hit by Tsopko were Preston Stucky, 26, of Cornelius and William Griffin, 62, of Happy Valley.

Tsopko needed to be extracted from his vehicle by Clackamas Fire crews, police said, after which he was taken to hospital. Happy Valley Police took Tsopko into custody after his release from the hospital.
