Efforts to Privatize Liquor Sales in Oregon Suspended

Fot a second time, a group of grocers have suspended efforts to try and get a measure on the ballot that would privatize liquor sales in Oregon.

The hope had been to get the measure on the ballot in November.

There was a similar effort two years ago.

Grocery stores are currently only allowed to sell beer and wine.

Oregon controls the sale and distribution of liquor.

The coalition behind the measure says they will now shift their focus to defeating Initiative Petition 28, which would tax corporations on their annual in-state sales above $25 million.
