Estacada Teen Brandon Powell Found in Clackamas River, Sandy Police say

The 18-year-old had been missing since March 12, and was last seen running from his home wearing only pajama bottoms.

SANDY, OR – After months of searching, Sandy police officials on Tuesday announced they had located the body of missing 18-year-old Brandon Powell.

On Friday, April 28, members of the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office dive team found Powell in the Clackamas River near McIver Park, Sandy police spokesman Sam Craven said in a statement. Someone reportedly saw a body floating in the river roughly 100 yards from the park's Northside boat ramp and called police, Craven said.

Medical examiners confirmed Powell's identity Monday, Craven said, noting the department's announcement was delayed until Powell's family was notified Tuesday morning.

Powell was reportedly last seen around 5 a.m. March 12 at his home in Estacada. Witnesses at the time reported seeing Powell suffer a panic attack then run from the home wearing only his pajama pants.

Craven said the county medical examiner's office had not yet determined a specific cause of death, but added that no signs of foul play were present.
