Firefighters Rescue Man from Rock Wall by Willamette Falls

Man was 20 feet from the road when he couldn't go further.

A man climbing a rock wall approximately 80 feet high by Willamette Falls in Oregon City had to be rescued when he couldn't go any further.

It happened around 11:15 Thursday morning.

A barge worker heard a man yelling for help as they went  by on the Willamette River.

Clackamas County Fire District 1 responded.

They discovered the man 60 feet from the base and about 20 feet from the road.

A rescue Firefighter quickly donned a rescue harness and repelled down to the climber to asses for injuries and secure the climber with a harness and rope, while the team made a plan to retrieve the climber. 

Once the firefighters had a rescue harness and rope on the climber firefighters used a rope system to raise the rescue firefighter and climber to safety.

He was uninjured.
