Police ID Gunman Killed In Shootout With Deputies
Nate Macalevy was reportedly the gunman in the shootout east of Boring the morning after Christmas. He died from a singular gunshot wound.

BORING, OR — Police on Wednesday identified the man killed in a gunfight with Clackamas County Deputies early Tuesday morning in Boring.
Nathaniel Fritz Macalevy, 44, died from a singular gunshot wound early Dec. 26, Clackamas County authorities announced in a Wednesday morning statement.
Macalevy was facing charges for felony assault and misdemeanor harassment stemming from a July domestic violence incident in Clackamas County. He was due back in court for a 12-person jury trial on Feb. 20.

Six Clackamas County Sheriff's deputies — none of whom were injured in the shootout — remain on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
The events leading up to the shootout began around 11 p.m. Dec. 25 at a home in the 17500-block of Southeast Ten Eyck Road in unincorporated Clackamas County, just east of Sandy.

Deputies were dispatched on the report of a man violating a restraining order, authorities said in a statement released Tuesday afternoon.
(Editor's Note: Patch has since learned the restraining/no contact order was handed down by a judge in Clackamas County based on the incident in July.)
When they reached the house, deputies first contacted the woman who filed the restraining order.
The woman reportedly told deputies Macalevy was somewhere on the rural property, heavily armed, and wearing protective gear.
(Editor's Note: An undated profile photo on what appears to be Macalevy's Facebook page depicts an unsmiling, bearded Macalevy adorned with what appears to be a bullet proof, police-style vest. Facebook user pages also mentioning Macalevy offer a different view and description of the man accused of opening fire on deputies, however, with commenters offering pictures of a smiling Macalevy, referring to him as a "great guy" numerous times.)
Deputies called for a SWAT team to assist with the search and got the woman to safety, authorities said.
Roughly five hours later, around 4:30 a.m. Dec. 26, SWAT officers reportedly found Macalevy driving his work van. SWAT initiated a traffic stop but Macalevy allegedly opted for a chase instead.
Macalevy finally stopped at his home in the 13200-block of Southwest 312th Drive, east of Boring, roughly 6 miles from the where the investigation began Christmas night.
After stopping, Macalevy reportedly stepped out of the van wearing a helmet and vest and began firing upon deputies still in their patrol cars with an unspecified weapon. Several vehicles were struck several times, authorities said.
Deputies returned fire and later found Macalevy dead behind his house. It still remains unclear whether Macalevy died from a wound inflicted by the deputies.
The Clackamas County Major Crimes Team is assisting with the investigation. While detectives investigated the shooting scene, Southeast 312th Avenue was closed between Highway 212 and Southeast Church Road.
