New Census Numbers Have Clackamas Growing

Most new residents moved here as opposed to being born here

New numbers out from the Census Bureau have Clackamas County continuing to be Oregon's third most populous county with 401,515 people.

That's a 1.8 percent growth over the year before.

Most of the county's population growth was fueled by people moving in.

Of the 7,011 people became residents of Clackamas County between 2014 and 2015, 383 moved from overseas and 5,301 moved from other parts of the United States.

It's a trend that has been developing over the past several years.

From 2010-2015, of the 25,517 people who became residents of Clackamas County, 20,828 moved there (as opposed to being born there)

Overall, the state 's population kept growing. There are now more than four million people who call themselves Oregonian.

Oregon's growth was the ninth largest by percent in the country.

Of the state's 36 counties, 29 saw their population grow.

The largest percentage increase was in Crook County, which saw 2.8 percent bump in population followed by Washington County, which grew by 2 percent/

Gliiliam County saw the biggest percentage drop in population. Of the 1,924 people who lived there in 2014, 3.4 percent moved out.
