Oregon City: Construction to Close Portion of South End Road April 13
The southbound lane of South End Road between Fifth and Barker avenues will close today. The northbound lane will close when repairs begin.

OREGON CITY, OR – Commuters prepare: Clackamas County will temporarily close a part of South End Road beginning today.
As of 10 a.m., the southbound lane of South End Road between Fifth Avenue and Barker Avenue in Oregon City will be closed for short-term pavement repairs, which will begin once there is a period of dry weather, Oregon City officials said in a statement.
The section of road being repaired reportedly has a history of grade changes and shallow slide activity caused by heavy, sustained winter rain.

Once the repair project begins, both the north- and southbound lanes will be closed during daytime hours, officials said.
"We will open the southbound lane once the temporary repairs are complete. But if the area continues to slide, we may have to close it again,” Transportation Maintenance Manager Randy Harmon said in a statement. “The safety of the traveling public is our top concern."

The county previously lowered the speed limit on South End Road from 30 mph to 25 mph, and local police were asked to increase enforcement of the road’s 13-ton weight limit restriction, officials said.
