Oregon City Police Bust Suspected Car Thief
Police say that Monte Wes McMullen led them on a chase on wheels and on foot.

A 20-year-old man from Oregon City is under arrest, charged with a variety of crimes including unlawful use of a motor vehicle and attempt to elude after allegedly stealing a car and trying to escape capture. Monte Wes McMullen was arrested by Oregon City Police with the assistance of Gladstone Police and the Clackamas County Sheriff's office.

Oregon City Police had tried to stop a 1996 Honda with no licenses plates near 9th Street and John Adams Street.

The driver - since identified as McMullen, say police - abandoned the car about one block away and fled on foot. They say he ran into a house on the 1500 block of 9th Street.
Occupants of the house were evacuated. He then surrendered without incident.

McMullen is also being held on a probation violation out of Mutnomah County.
