Oregon City Woman Pleads Guilty To Killing Husband

Lisa Marie Peterson will spend at least 25 years behind bars.

A 57-year-old Oregon City woman charged with killing her husband, appeared in court Monday to plead guilty to murder. Lisa Marie Peterson was sentenced to life in prison though she will be eligible for parole after 25 years.

Police had been called to her home at 19450 Falcon Drive on the afternoon of February 11, 2016. Peterson met detectives outside. She called 911 to say that she had shot her husband, Joseph Ben Peterson.

They found him inside. He was dead.

Police say that she had shot him in the chest with a .38 caliber handgun.

She had told police that he had told her he was finished with the marriage and wanted a divorce. She had planned to shoot herself but shot him instead.

The Oregon City Police Department with the assistance of the Clackamas County Inter-agency Major Crimes Team investigated the murder and forwarded their investigation to the Clackamas County District Attorney's Office for prosecution.
