Jim Williams resigned abruptly, citing personal reasons.

Oregon's director of elections Jim Williams resigned this week, citing "personal reasons."
He had been in the position for almost three years.
"It is with a heavy hear and regret that I hereby offer my resignation," he wrote.

Williams, who had reported to Secretary of State Jeanne Atkins, will be replaced by Deputy Elections Director Brenda Bayes on an interim basis.
