Park Place Park Play Structure Damaged by Fire, Oregon City Police say

The Monday morning fire at Park Place Park may be related to two other fires in Oregon City March 13 and 14, according to police.

OREGON CITY, OR – The Park Place Park play structure was set on fire early Monday, according to Oregon City police.

A resident in the area reported the fire shortly before 5:30 a.m. April 3, and a quick response by Clackamas County Fire District #1 firefighters prevented the fire from completely destroying the play structure or spreading to any nearby trees.

Only the play structure's crawling tube was damaged.

Fire investigators and Oregon City police said the fire was intentionally set and likely caused more than $1,000 in damage to the play structure.

On March 13 and 14 –– around 2 a.m. and 5:45 a.m., respectively –– firefighters responded to two separate portable outhouse fires at a new housing development near Samson Place.

Anyone with information about any of the three fires, including whomever is responsible for setting them, is encouraged to call the Oregon City police tipline at 503-496-1616, or the Clackamas Fire District #1 Fire Prevention Office at 503-742-2660.
