Pioneer Pub Shooting Explained By Oregon City Police

Two men in their 20s were injured when a firearm was accidentally discharged around 1 a.m. Oct. 22. No arrests have been made.

OREGON CITY, OR — Oregon City police on Tuesday provided an update to the shooting incident at Pioneer Pub early Sunday; and though they didn't give the names of the people involved, they did clarify that no arrests have been made at this time and that shooting was not intentional.

According to police, two men — ages 25 and 21 — were injured when a firearm discharged accidentally shortly after 1 a.m. Oct. 22. Both men were injured in their hand, police said, noting that at least one was shot.

After the firearm went off, the 21-year-old Clackamas resident who fired the weapon left the pub prior to police arriving. The 25-year-old Oregon City resident who remained reportedly explained to police that he and the Clackamas man know each other and that the shooting was unintentional.

When finally contacted by officers, the Clackamas man reportedly cooperated with the investigation.

Police later learned a trailer in a nearby parking lot was also shot once. No one was injured in that incident, police said, further noting that both shootings are related. The investigation continues.
