Riverwalk Designs Focus of Community Meeting Thursday

There will be three presentations where community members will be able to see design alternatives.

It's been five years since the Blue Heron Paper Company filed for bankruptcy and people started talking about ways to open the property bordering Willamette Falls to the public for the first time in more than 100 years. On Thursday, people will get to see design possibilities for a riverwalk that would do just that.

The Willamette Falls Legacy Project, which is helping guide the project, is sponsoring a design presentation and workshop at Clackamas Community College.

"See and discuss the design alternatives for the riverwalk!" the project says on its website. "Participate in interactive design activities, talk with the project team, hear a presentation by lead riverwalk design firm Snøhetta, and collaborate with fellow community members."

The open house will be from 3:00 p.m. through 8:30 p.m. with presentations at 4:00, 5:30, and 7:00.

Willamette Falls is the second most powerful waterfall in the United States and has been a cultural center dating back thousands of years.
