Small Grants Available For Clackamas County Nonprofits

$250,000 will be distributed in October to organizations that create projects directly benefitting the county's vulnerable residents.

OREGON CITY, OR β€” A small grant opportunity is available to nonprofit organizations serving homeless and vulnerable populations in Clackamas County, according to county officials. Opened July 5, the Small Grants Program is accepting applications through Aug. 21, with a total of $250,000 available for distribution.

Designed to assist local organizations whose goals are to aid the county's vulnerable families, seniors, and homeless, the small grants have benefitted several community organizations over the past nine years. The board overseeing grant dispersal typically gives priority to those organizations that have formed projects specifically targeting homeless prevention and improving food and housing security, officials said.

In 2016, county officials selected 40 organizations to receive grants ranging from $1,250 to $12,748.

The county released this short video highlighting three 2016 grant recipients:

To be eligible for a grant, the applying nonprofit must prove its project will directly benefit vulnerable people in Clackamas County and prevent larger problems from forming in the future. Additionally, grant recipients must show positive, measurable outcomes for county residents, officials said.
