Thanksgiving Tragedy: Woman Dies in Oregon City Fire

The woman was discovered in her bedroom after the fire was extinguished.

It was just before 11:00 Thanksgiving night when firefighters from Clackamas Fire District 2 arrived at 19371 South End Road in Oregon City. The home at that location was burning. A large amount of fire was showing from the back.

Three people had managed to get out and call 911.

They told firefighters a woman was still inside, in her bedroom, in the rear of the home.

Firefighters tried to get to her but that is where the heaviest part of the fire was.

Once the fire was out, they were able to get to her but it was too late. The woman had been killed in the fire.

The fire is still under investigation. It's not yet known if smoke detectors were in the home and, if they were, if they were working.
