West Linn Police To Focus On Drunk Drivers This Christmas

OREGON CITY, OR - From The West Linn Police Department: The West Linn Police Department thanks you for helping us keep our roadways safe during the long Thanksgiving weekend.

With aid from a grant through Oregon Impact, the West Linn Police Department deployed extra patrol officers and arrested 11 drivers for DUII during the month of November. We will continue to work at keeping our streets safe during your Christmas and New Year's celebrations, and keep West Linn one of the safest cities in the United States.

WHAT CAN I DO TO KEEP WEST LINN SAFE?

We are asking for your help in reporting suspected intoxicated drivers.

If you see what you believe is the unsafe operation of a motor vehicle:

• First, stay as far away from the other vehicle as possible.
• Second, DO NOT try to pass the vehicle or signal the driver to pull over. Doing so could result in a collision.
• Third, take notice of the license plate number along with details of the vehicle including make, model and color. However, make sure you don't compromise your own safety trying to obtain this information.
• Finally, pull over and call 911. Give the exact location of the vehicle, including the name of the road or cross streets and the direction the vehicle is traveling. Give a complete description of the vehicle and the manner in which the vehicle is being driven. If possible, give your name and contact information so an officer can talk to you later.

West Linn Police Officers have made numerous DUII arrests because citizens have followed these steps for reporting suspected intoxicated drivers.

Please don't drink and drive, there are easier ways to get face time with your favorite West Linn Police Officer!
