Young Man Dies Diving Off of High Rocks

A 21-year-old man from Portland died Sunday afternoon after diving off of High Rocks, a well-known spot overlooking the Clackamas River.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office says they got the call around 4:17 that a man had dived in and not resurfaced.

The sheriff's office responded along with officers from the Oregon City and Gladstone Police Department.

First responders tried to find the man but to no avail.

The Sheriff's Marine and Dive units also responded and found - and recovered - the man around 6 p.m..

The cause of the drowning has not been determined but the sheriff's office wants people to exercise "extreme caution" in the water as the weather improves.
