Felon Arrested For Portland 7-11 Shooting, Police Say

Devyn Julkowski allegedly drove the burgundy Honda that was involved in the SE Portland shooting incident that left one man injured.

PORTLAND, OR — Police on Saturday arrested a man suspected of shooting another person at a Southeast Portland 7-11 store last Thursday. The person shot was taken to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Devyn Michaeljohn Julkowski, 20, was taken to the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of felony assault and felon in possession of a firearm. Court documents show Julkowski earned his felon status in May 2016 when he was convicted for attempt to commit a class B felony for possession of heroin. In February 2017 he was also convicted for burglary and arson of Cleveland High School — an incident which his friend reportedly recorded with his cell phone and later posted to SnapChat.

Julkowski is being held on $255,000 bail.

According to Portland police, Julkowski was at the 7-11 at 1715 S.E. Tacoma St. around 4 a.m. Oct. 19. While speaking to another man who was seen standing near his burgundy 2000 Honda Accord, Julkowski allegedly opened fire, striking the man and the convenience store.

Witnesses also reported seeing Julkowski's Honda strike a tree as he fled the scene, police said.

Officers investigating the shooting located Julkowski's Honda near Southwest 19th Avenue and Southwest Vermont Street around 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21.

As they observed the vehicle, the officers saw Julkowski enter and exit the Honda before returning to a nearby apartment complex.

Using the Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT), Portland police surrounded the apartment complex and were able to take Julkowski into custody without any apparent incident.

During a search of Julkowski's Honda, police found a firearm and took it as evidence.
