4/20 In Portland: How to Celebrate

It's the first 4/20 since recreational marijuana became legal in Portland. Here's some things to do.

  1. Take a bus tour celebrating the history of marijuana in Portland. ORHistory has two tours leaving today - one at 3:15 p.m. and one at 7 p.m.. The tour includes a stop at the Collective Awakenings dispensary. Tickets are $32. Organizers suggest not driving. Instead, they say, mass transit, a cab, or have a friend pick you up.
  2. Head to Pure Green, a family owned cannabis store in Northeast Portland where DJ OZ Rock will headline the party starting at 4 p.m.. Laurel wood Brewery will be providing the beer.
  3. Head to the Southeast location of Bridge City Collective, which says it is "dedicated to providing Oregon's medical marijuana patients with the most superior products available." From Noon to 1:30 p.m., they will be giving out free hotbox BBQ sandwiches.
  4. Doobie or Not Doobie? A reading tonight from the Poeming Pigeon, a magazine featuring pot-themed works. At Ford Food and Drink on SE 11th beginning at 7 p.m..
  5. Head to Mt. Tabor. Smoking in public may be illegal but there is always a large crowd at 4:20 on 4/20. Listen for the drums and you will find the crowd.
