A commuter heading west out of Rickreall on the Willamina-Salem Highway called 911 to report a reckless driver just before 12:30 p.m. Jan. 14, Polk County authorities said Tuesday, noting the driver not only reported the reckless driving but also observing the driver — later identified as Edie — smoking from what they believed was a glass meth pipe.

Polk County Sheriff's officials reportedly enlisted the help of the Grande Ronde Tribal Police, which eventually caught up with Edie and pulled him over.

A Polk County Sheriff's deputy and Oregon State trooper helped determine Edie's impairment, and a Newberg police K9 unit reportedly found a quarter pound of meth in the car. A stolen handgun and $500 in cash was also confiscated, authorities said.

This appears to be Edie's sixth possession charge, his most recent occurring in September 2017, and his second DUII charge.

Schier had no significant criminal history prior to this arrest, according to Oregon records.
