Abby Wambach Pleads Guilty to Drunk Driving

Soccer star will enter diversion program that could result in the charges being dismissed.

International soccer star Abby Wambach - who helped lead to United States to two Olympic Gold Medals and the World Cup championship - was in court in Portland Tuesday pleading guilty to drunk driving.

Wambach was pulled over on April 2nd after driving through a red light.

She wrote an apology on her Facebook page the next day.

Wambach also agreed to enter a diversion program that if she completes could result in the charge against her being dismissed.

She also has to have a device installed on her car that she will have to blow into. If she's sober, the car will start. If not, the car won't start.

Wambach, who lives in Portland, retired last October as the all-time leading goal scorer in international competition.
