  1. The city of Portland and Multnomah County had announced earlier this year that they were going to build six new outdoor structures for homeless individuals by the end of the year. Now, with the clock ticking, they are still struggling to relocate existing villages. The relocation of two of the three villages — collectively dubbed Creating Conscious Communities with People Outside, or C3PO — comes as Portland's development commission preps the three-block parcel for an industrial office builder. Officials say the expiration date set by the commission, now called Prosper Portland , is flexible. (Newsbreak)
  2. Portland-area ambulance services have been stretched thin by increased demands. Since the starts of this year, calls for these services have increased by 20%. They've increased staff, but that hasn't been enough. Their new tactic? Surge planning that allows them to continue to serve the community even if all their ambulances are at calls. They have non-emergency rigs they can call in at a moment’s notice and their entire leadership team is on call, ready to jump in a rig. (KATU)
  3. Over the weekend, gunfire erupted around 4:20 a.m. near NE 95th and Prescott. When police arrived, the shooters had already left the area. Investigators later found more than a 100 bullet casings, from multiple calibers. 4 apartments and 5 cars were struck, but, luckily, no one was injured. (KOIN)
  4. According to NASA, Oregon is moon country! In preparation for the Apollo moon mission nearly 60 years ago, the agency brought astronauts to volcanic formations in Oregon to walk around in spacesuits to simulate conditions on the moon. Now that they are planning their Artemis mission, to land a woman and person of color on the moon by the end of the decade, they plan on returning to places like Hole in the Ground and the lava flow at the top of McKenzie Pass. (OPB)
  5. While the efforts to recall Mayor Ted Wheeler are going slow, some Portland art venues are weighing in. Both Lani Jo Leigh, owner of the Clinton Street Theater, and Eric Isaacson, owner of Mississippi Records, are speaking out and hoping to boost the recall campaign. (Portland Mercury)
