2. 1 killed in fiery crash near Forest Park in SW Portland (kptv.com) — A deadly early-morning crash near Forest Park closed West Burnside at Southwest Barnes Road on Saturday after a car caught fire with one person trapped inside. The road has since reopened, but Portland police are still investigating and asking anyone with information to email them and reference case number 26-281444.
3. Portland School Board Takes Early Step Toward a Screen Time Policy (wweek.com) — Portland Public Schools leaders are weighing a new districtwide screen time policy that could sharply limit device use for K–8 students, including banning screens during the day for kindergarten through second grade. The board's policy committee signaled strong support but wants more educator input, with fuller debate and an AI curriculum discussion expected this fall before any final rules reshape classroom technology use.
4. 'A very Portland way to protest': Cyclists circle Moda Center in anti-Moda spending demonstration (kgw.com) — Portland residents and activists are pushing back against a proposed city deal that could send up to $120 million toward renovating the Moda Center, arguing that money should instead support core services, workers, and schools. Portland, OR: Confused Driver At 19th & Barbur Changes Lanes Into Opposing Traffic, Realizes Their Mistake & Does The Reverse Of Shame (tiremeetsroad.com) — A recent dashcam video from SW 19th Avenue and Barbur Boulevard shows a confused Toyota Camry driver briefly turning into oncoming traffic before safely reversing back into place. Shared widely on Reddit, the clip highlights how easily lane confusion can happen at busy Portland intersections and notes that such mistakes could bring a costly improper-lane-usage citation under Oregon law.
