April Fools: 5 (Real) Things to Do in the Region This Weekend

Don't get stuck watching basketball this weekend (Go Ducks!). Get out and enjoy one of these activities happening in the Portland region.

1. Get colorful at the fifth annual Rang Barse Saturday, April 1, at the Hillsboro Sports Complex, 490 N.E. 28th Ave. The festival of colors is a family friendly event organized by Amrapali Boutique and Bollywood Movez. Visit the event website for ticket information.

2. LEGOLab for Kids at the Oregon City Public Library Saturday is sure to be a blast. Beginning at 10:30 a.m. April 1, families in the Community Room at 606 John Adams St. can build LEGO sculptures using a randomly selected challenge as inspiration. Finished models are displayed in the Children’s Room. This event is free and takes place every Saturday.

3. Kids in grades third to sixth can play futsal for free on Sunday, April 2, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Friends of the Children Gym in Gresham, 424 N.E. 172nd Ave. The five-on-five matches are each 5 minutes in length. Supervision and mentorship is provided by Active Children Portland volunteers and the event is sponsored by the City of Gresham. A signed waiver is required. 4. The second of three Pollinator Habitat Planting events is this Saturday, April 1, in Wilsonville. Attendees will meet at 8:45 a.m. at 8100 S.W. Wilsonville Rd. to register and be assigned to a crew. Event coordinators will provide breakfast snacks, hot chocolate, and coffee, as well as gloves, tools and guidance. 5. Albertina Kerr’s Race for the Roses is Sunday, April 2, beginning at 7 a.m. at the Oregon Convention Center, 777 N.E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Runners (and walkers) can choose from a half marathon, 10k, or 5k chip-timed run or walk. Tickets are required.Visit the event website for details.
