Best Airport in the United States? Portland International Airport

For the third year in a row, Travel and Leisure has put PDX at the top of the list.

We may get to the point where people consider a visit to Portland, flying into the airport, hanging out there for the day, and flying back out.

For the third year in a row, Travel and Leisure has put Portland International Airport at the top of the list of best airports in the country.

"Kudos to the designers and the Port of Portland for an airport that is user-friendly, open, airy, and efficient," the quote one survey-taker as having written.

The airport gets praise not just for its on-time departure record but for the fact that the airport really is an extension of the city with many of Portland's signature restaurants having outposts there.

You can also buy anything from a book at Powells to a cup of coffee from Stumptown to yoga mats and bike helmets.

Daren Griffin, the port's director of airport operations, says the sward is the result of a team effort.

“This is a tribute to the entire PDX team that works hard every day to provide an outstanding customer experience," says Griffin.

"We try to think through the entire passenger experience and keep improving to provide seamless and enjoyable travel through the airport.”
