Bid to Allow Liquor Sales in Grocery Stores Takes Step Forward

Report says supporters receive approval to try to get measure on the ballot.

There's about to be a bunch of people going door to door across the state hoping that's the case.

The state Supreme Court Thursday told supporters of Initiative Petition 71 that they can start collecting signatures, according to The Portland Business Journal.

The measure would allow grocery stores to start selling liquor in addition to beer and wine.

If the supporters of the initiative can collect 88,174 signatures, the measure will be on the ballot in November.
