Portland Target Stabbing: Suspect Charged with Assault

Witness said scene was "total chaos."

Portland Police say that 36-year-old Travis Dana Peterson is in jail, charged with stabbing a woman in a dispute over a backpack.

The incident happened just before 1 p.m. Wednesday outside the Target at SW 10th and Morrison in downtown Portland.

Police say that Peterson and his victim, Tiffany Nicole Bule, know each other.

After being treated and released at a local hospital, Bule was also booked into jail.

Police say that she had two outstanding warrants.

Scott Ford was a witness to the incident and shot video.

"It is total chaos," Ford told Patch.

Ford said the attackers fled on foot.

Officers got a good description of the attackers and found them in the Old Town section of the city.

A woman was taken into custody along with Peterson but she was not charged.

She was treated and released at a local hospital as well.
