A portion of the proceeds from 'Pints Passport' sales go to the Brian Grant Foundation's Parkinson's disease support programs.

PORTLAND, OR – Drink beer for a good cause at participating Oregon bars and breweries throughout spring.

In support of Parkinson’s Awareness Month, the Portland-based Brian Grant Foundation is conducting its second annual Pints for Parkinson’s fundraiser in partnership with 35 Oregon beer houses in five cities: Portland, Bend, Corvallis, Eugene, and Hood River.

For a $25 "Pints Passport" –– good for 10 pints at any of the participating locations –– beer drinkers can help support the Brian Grant Foundation’s exercise, nutrition, and emotional support programs for people living with the degenerative Parkinson’s disease.

"The incredible number of bars and breweries participating in Pints for Parkinson's has exceeded our expectations," Foundation Executive Director Katrina Kahl said in a statement. "We're grateful for the support from the 35 locations, which will help us expand our programs for people with Parkinson's to more communities across the nation."

Pints Passports are available until April 30 and can be used through May 31, though only one pint can be redeemed per location.

Established in 2010, the Brian Grant Foundation honors former Portland Trail Blazers basketball player Brian Grant, who was diagnosed with young-onset Parkinson’s in 2008 –– two years after he retired from a 12-year career with the NBA.

In keeping with Grant's commitment to health and fitness, the Foundation hosts cooking and exercise classes, as well as wellness retreats throughout the year. But all work and no play is no fun at all, "So (Pints for Parkinson's) is an opportunity to get out and socialize," Kahl said. "We do work on exercise and nutrition, but we also want to build community."
