Bridge Lifts to Become More Predictable

Multnomah County releases an app that will alert you to a bridge lift.

Ask anyone who travels over one of Portland's four drawbridges that cross the Willamette and they will inevitably have a story of being delayed by a bridge lift that seems to appear out of the blue.

Now Multnomah County has introduced an app - available in both the Apple and Android stores - that will alert you when one of the County's four bridges open for a river vessels, maintenance, or repair.

Those bridges are the Broadway, Burnside, Hawthorne and Madison.

The two other drawbridges over the Willamette that are not owned by the County are not included in the app.

The are the Steel Bridge, which is owned by Union Pacific Railroad and the Interstate Bridge, which is owned by ODOT and WSDOT.
