Here are the top three stories today in Portland:

  1. Portland's Dimitrius Nicolai Pryce has been convicted of stealing COVID relief funds. According to the District Attorney’s Office, Pryce submitted an application for a false “entertainment venue” that had earned him $53,000 prior to the pandemic. Additionally, Pryce denied being on “any form of parole or probation” in his application, even though he had just finished a 70-month prison sentence. (Fox 12 Oregon)
  2. In October, Mayor Ted Wheeler and City Commissioner Dan Ryan revealed their plan to open multiple homeless encampments around the city. No local providers already running outdoor shelters were consulted in those plans. Instead, the city brought in a California-based nonprofit, Urban Alchemy, to work on the encampments. (Portland Mercury)
  3. On Tuesday, a fire occurred at the former Elks Club Lodge at the corner of Northeast 100th and Glisan. Fire crews arrived around 2:00 p.m., quickly located the fire in the HVAC unit, and extinguished it. There were no reported injuries or fatalities. (KOIN.com)
