'Car Prowlers' Arrested Saturday, Portland Police say

The suspects allegedly stole items from a high school girls' basketball team vehicle while it was parked at Lloyd Center on March 11.

PORTLAND, OR – Portland police on Saturday arrested two people suspected of breaking into a Salem high school girls' basketball team vehicle while it was parked at Lloyd Center in March.

Macknell Christopher Jones, 31, and Nicole Marie Moen, 26, were arrested April 29 and lodged at the Multnomah County Jail on more than 40 charges each, including several counts of theft, criminal mischief, and possession of methamphetamine and heroin. According to police, Jones and Moen's arrival at the county jail came after hospital treatment for swallowing drugs after their arrest.

Police officials said in a statement that Jones and Moen were indicted by a Multnomah County Grand Jury for allegedly breaking into a South Salem High School girls' basketball team vehicle while it was parked at Lloyd Center on March 11. The pair stole several items, police said.

To assist police in the prevention of car break-ins, the Portland Police Bureau offers tips for keeping car interiors free of tempting valuables, such as bags, purses, wallets, laptops, cell phones, or anything that could entice a thief.
