Cartopia Saying Goodbye to PB&J Foodcart

Popular PBJ's Grilled has been told their lease is not being renwed.

Nothing lasts forever. Just ask the proprietor of PBJ's Grilled, the popular food car at Cartopia on Hawthorne Boulevard.

They posted to Facebook that they were told they would not be allowed to renew their lease.

"Our lease has not been renewed at 12th & Hawthorne, Cartopia," they write.

"We do not know why and we were not given a reason. All that was stated, were plans had already been in place for some time, and we need to be out by October 31."

Their last day there will be October 30th and they will be open every day until then.

The cart has developed a following with its takes on the classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich, offering versions that include olive bread, goat cheese, coconut shrimp, and caramelized onions.

PBJ's says they believe they are the only cart not to get their lease renewed.
