Hey, there, Peeps, I'm back for another week in Portland. We're still counting down to Turkey Day, which is swiftly approaching. Which is probably why I've decided to serve ham. So much easier. Anyway, let's find out what the day holds.
First, today's weather:
Rain for most of the day and a wind that will make the high temp of 51 feel considerably colder. Yep, we're deep into the fall now.

Here are the top stories today in Portland:
- Popular tourist site Multnomah Falls was almost the scene of a tragedy this weekend when a mother and her 2-year-old daughter fell about 50 feet. The mother and daughter were taken to a hospital to be treated, but neither of their conditions is considered life-threatening, the sheriff's office said in an emailed statement. (KTVZ)
- A Portland-area veterinarian is warning cat owners of a deadly virus on the rise. The virus, Feline Panleukopenia, is similar to Parvo disease in dogs, but much more deadly. Dr. Jessica Thompson, a veterinarian in Southwest Portland, says her office has seen between 20 and 25 cases of the disease so far this year, which is much more than usual. (KATU)
- Authorities said two people are dead after being struck by falling tree limbs Saturday morning in the Portland metro area. Around 10:45 a.m., Portland police said a large branch fell and struck two men at a homeless camp near Northeast Sandy Boulevard and Northeast 118th Avenue. one of whom died. Then around 11:15 a.m., a teenager was struck and killed by a falling tree limb at Thousand Acres Park, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office. (KGW)
- The Portland Bureau of Transportation has taken a major step towards improving the safety of Portland streets. Nearly two years after WW examined the role that cars parked at the edge of intersections play in Portland traffic deaths, Transportation Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty is spending money to clear the view of drivers as they approach crosswalks. Her dedication of funds for “daylighted corners” comes as Portland endures a surge in traffic deaths in the past two years — and the city faces a lawsuit saying that a failure to enforce state parking law resulted in a motorcyclist’s death. (Willamette Week)
- Iconic strip club Mary's Place had its antique cash register stolen. Its been closed as owners plan a move in location, so this theft was quite a set back for them. The club said the 1940s cash register has sentimental value as it has been in the family since they bought the club from Mary herself. It has become a mainstay ever since, staff said. (KOIN)

- With all the new construction going on at Portland International Airport, it may seem to be in a constant state of flux, but it's good to see some old sights returning as well. After being closed for nearly two years, Hollywood Theater’s microcinema at the Portland International Airport is reopening this week. The theater can still be found in Concourse C — but near the C-13 gate instead of C-5. Additionally, the number of seats inside has increased from 17 to 22. (KOIN)
- The comic book industry looms large in Portland, and now a big player in that industry has cause to celebrate. Dark Horse Comics is proud to announce its 35th anniversary. Dark Horse founder Mike Richardson started his company while running a comic book shop in Bend. It enticed some of the industry’s best artists and writers with the editorial independence – and financial incentives – that big brands DC and Marvel would not provide in 1986. In time, titles such as “Hellboy” and “Sin City” became household names, establishing Dark Horse’s spot as a creative force in the independent comics market – and the movie adaptations didn’t hurt.
