CJ McCollum of the Blazers is the NBA's Most Improved Player of the Year, the league announced Friday.

McCollum finished the season with career highs in points, assists rebounds, assists, steals, and minutes played.

He started 80 of the Blazers 82 games.

"Being recognized as the Most Improved Player in the NBA is a testament to the dedication and commitment to his game CJ has shown since joining the Trail Blazers," said president of basketball operations Neil Olshey.

In his third season, McCollum raised his scoring average by 14 points over the previous season.

He is the third Trail Blazer to win the award, joining Kevin Duckworth and Zach Randolph.

The Blazers play the Clippers at home Saturday night in a crucial game three. They are down 2-0.
