Clackamas County: Meet Your New Commissioner - Sonya Fischer

Lake Oswego lawyer Sonya Fischer selected to fill Jim Bernard's seat.

Clackamas County - meet your new County Commissioner. She is Sonya Fischer, a lawyer from Lake Oswego. She takes the place of Jim Bernard who became Clackamas County Chair.

Fischer, a former legislative director for the Oregon Department of Human Services, heads Fischer Family Law. She's a graduate of Lewis and Clark Law School and has a master degree from Portland State University and a bachelor of science degree in sociology/social work from Warner Pacific College.

She was selected by the county commission in a process that saw 78 people apply for the position. Eight candidates were then selected for further consideration. Three of those people were then interviewed by the commission.

Fischer will serve through December, 2018.
