Walls go up at the new Kellogg
Construction on the new Kellogg Middle School has reached a milestone as the first walls have been raised up. The gym and performing arts wing is taking shape as concrete tilt-up walls were secured in place. Shortly after the walls went up, steel framing of the gym structure followed.

Framing is also proceeding on the adjacent cafeteria/commons, and this will be followed by work on the three-story learning suites structure. Another significant milestone is that all the foundations and base floor slabs have been poured.
Planning for furnishings, fixtures and equipment is continuing, with input from stakeholders, and selection of classroom technology is being finalized. A mock-up of classroom technology is being prepared off site to allow the contractor as well as District staff to learn how this technology will work in the new building.
Demolition complete at Madison, interior remodeling begins
If you drive by Madison High School, you’ll notice many big changes. The original front entrance has been removed, as have the original gym building, theater and cafeteria. Prior to their demolition, bricks, bleachers and the gym wood flooring were salvaged for re-use later on in the project.
Hazardous material abatement has been completed and extensive remodeling is now underway. The existing concrete structure is being modified and supplemented with new structural elements to bring the building up to current seismic standards.
In the new performing arts wing, the orchestra pit is in place. The main building pad has also been poured, preparing the way for construction of the black box theater, band and choir classrooms. In the new gym, the foundations are under way, and the masonry walls should start to rise in late January or early February.
