New headquarters on Swan Island will be home to 1,000 employees.

Daimler Trucks North America unveiled its new $150 million headquarters in Tuesday.
The nine-story, 268,000-square foot building consolidates several Daimler offices around Portland, bringing 1,000 employees together for the first time.
Work on the building started two years ago and has been supported in part by a combination of a grant from the Portland Development Corporation and property tax breaks from the city.

Some of the grants Daimler received are contingent on the company meeting hiring benchmarks. If they don't, the money must be repaid.
"As one of Portland’s largest employers, we will now have a state-of-the-art work environment to inspire the great talent in our organization and to continue contributing to long-term prosperity in Portland," said the president and CEO of Daimler Trucks North America, Martin Daum.
