Detective Who Pleaded Guilty to DUII and Reckless Driving Gets Jail Time
Daniel Chastain, while driving under the influence, crashed an unmarked police car into another car.

A Portland Police Detective who crashed an unmarked police car into another car while driving under the influence will serve jail time. Daniel Chastain was sentenced Monday to 32 days in jail.
Chastain had pleaded guilty earlier to reckless driving, driving under the influence, and assault, in Clackamas County court.
The charges stem from April 25th when Chastain, driving about 80 miles per hour, crashed into another vehicle near Southeast 172nd Avenue and Big Timber Court.

There were no injuries but the other vehicle was totaled.
Chastain, who had been assigned to the bureau's Gang Enforcement Team, had told a deputy with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office that he had had been on his way home and had a drink earlier in the day.

He has been on paid leave since.
As part of his plea agreement, he will also serve two years probation, serve 24 hours of community service, and complete alcohol treatment.
