In 2004 he pleaded guilty to fourth degree sex assault a was given a one-year suspended sentence.

The following year - after his wife sought an order of protection and allowed police to search their home - he was charged with being a felon in possession of firearms because of the guns they found.

Stone tried to get the guns suppressed, arguing his wife did not have the right to have the house searched.

Court after court - up to the Second District Court of Appeals ruled the guns could be admitted.

In that case, Stone's wife told police that he head threatened to kill her more than once.

Two years later, while out on bail on the gun charges, he ended up back in jail after being accused with unlawful restraint and reckless endangerment after allegedly trying to kidnap a teenager.

In 2014, he was convicted of assault and spent ten months in prison.

Stone is on the run and considered armed and dangerous.

Police say that he "threatened to shoot it out with police."

Portland Police say that if you see him, call 9-1-1.

The incident started just before 2:23 a.m. Friday.

That's when Portland Police responded to Southeast 88th Avenue and Powell Boulevard.

A 41-year-old woman had been walking with a male friend. A man believed to be Stone pulls his car to the curb where they're walking, jumps out and points a gun at the couple.

Police say that Stone demands the woman get in the car, which she does.

Stone then sped off, police say.

Sometime after, police spot a car matching the description they'd been given. It was at Southeast 92nd Ave. and Holgate Boulevard.

It was moving very quickly and managed to get away.

Just before 4 a.m. officers were called to Southeast 43rd Ave. and Woodward Street.

There they found the 41-year-old woman. She had been shot.

As she was riding in the ambulance, she told police she had been sexually assaulted.

About 10 minutes later, police responded to a report that a man had crashed his car on the westbound lane of the approach to the Hawthorne Bridge.

Witnesses said as the man fled the crash then fired shots at his car and started running across the bridge.

Police determined that man was Stone.

All indications are this a stranger-on-stranger crime, police say.

Stone is described as being in his late-30s to early-40s, 5-feet-9-inches tall, 230 pounds, unknown clothing and armed with a handgun.

The search for Stone led to streets and bridges being closed downtown for a couple of hours.

The Hawthorne and Morrison Bridges were shut, and there were street closures SW Clay to Stark streets, Second Avenue to Waterfront Park.

The Morrison Bridge and streets have since reopened. The Hawthorne is open to bicycles and pedestrians and finally reopened to cars at 9:30.

At one point, Stone was believed to be in the area of Waterfront Park at the west end of the Hawthorne Bridge, but police now think he stayed on the east side.

The woman who was shot is expected to survive.

The street closures briefly delayed Waterfront Blues Fest workers from getting in to the area to set up for the first day of the festival.
