Driver Busted After Leading Police on Two-State Chase
Shannon Opperud is in jail on numerous traffic crimes and drug charges.

Officers from the Portland Police East Precinct tried to stop a silver Chevy Impala early Monday morning for traffic violations. The car took off, headed on to I-205 and crossed into Washington.
Portland officers stopped their pursuit at that point.

A short time later, they were notified by Washington State Police that troopers were chasing the same car on I-205. This time the car was headed south back to Oregon.
Portland Police saw the car exit the freeway onto Northeast Airport Way where it avoided spike strips police had placed on the roadway.

The suspect then rammed a police car, was boxed-in by other cars, and rammed a second police car before being taken into custody.
Portland Police say that 34-year-old Shannon Opperud, was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, Attempted Assault in the Second Degree (two counts), and numerous traffic crimes.
Opperud is also being held on a parole violation. Opperud may face additional charges in the State of Washington.
