Gresham Residents Asked to Donate Memories, Photos for Downtown Mural

Gresham wants its residents to help contribute to a mural that will go up on a wall downtown this summer.

If you live in Gresham, your city wants your help.

The city working with The center for the Arts Foundation to put up a mural on the 3rd Street side of 301 NE Roberts Avenue this summer.

The work will depict Gresham family life, culture, and history.

Muralist Lee Lauritzen has been hired to create the piece.

"We are excited to see this 3rd Street blank wall come to life with Gresham's Historic Downtown history. We expect to hear many tales and stories for artist Lee Lauritzen to interpret in paint with some help from personal photos," said Sue O'Halloran, President of the  Center for the Arts Foundation.

Residents are invited to contribute photos of downtown, childhood and family memories, festivals and community gatherings, and favorite restaurants or shops. The Center for the Arts Foundation will compile memories and photos into a timeline to assist the muralist in the design.

Memories and photos will also be accepted online until June 24. RSVP for the June 20 kick-off meeting or submit your input online at www.GreshamOregon.gov/ArtsandCulture.

There will be a kickoff event on June 20th at Gresham City Hall from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m..
