Guardian Roofing, Gutters & Insulation Launches HALO Project in Portland to Honor Community Changemakers

Successful program designed to recognize and support individuals who have made a meaningful impact in Portland, Oregon is taking nominations

Guardian Roofing, Gutters & Insulation is continuing its commitment to strengthening communities across the Pacific Northwest through the expansion of its HALO Project in Portland—an initiative designed to recognize and support individuals who have made a meaningful impact through service, compassion, and leadership.

Rooted in the belief that strong communities are built by people who show up for others, the HALO Project highlights local individuals whose generosity and resilience often go unrecognized. From lifelong volunteers and nonprofit leaders to veterans and caregivers, the program shines a light on those who embody the spirit of giving back.

“At Guardian, we believe the true foundation of any community is the people who care for it,” said Mat Rzucidlo, President of Guardian Roofing, Gutters & Insulation. “The HALO Project allows us to recognize those individuals and extend support in a tangible, meaningful way.”

At the center of the initiative is the HALO Project Roof Giveaway, an annual program that provides essential roof and gutter services—from repairs and restoration to full roof and gutter installations—for deserving homeowners facing financial hardship. Many recipients are individuals who have spent years serving others and now find themselves in need of support due to unexpected life circumstances

“The HALO Project is rooted in gratitude,” Rzucidlo said. “It’s our opportunity to give back to people who have dedicated their lives to helping others. A safe and secure roof can change someone's life. It brings comfort, stability, and peace of mind.”

The program invites community members throughout the Portland area to nominate individuals who exemplify selflessness and service. Nominees may include local volunteers, veterans, educators, nonprofit leaders, or everyday neighbors who consistently go above and beyond to uplift others.

In addition to honoring these individuals, the HALO Project aims to inspire broader community engagement—encouraging residents to recognize and celebrate the positive impact happening in their neighborhoods every day.

“Nominating someone is a powerful way to say ‘thank you,’” added Rzucidlo. “It ensures that the people making a difference know they are seen, valued, and appreciated.”

Nominations for the 2026 HALO Project are open from now through July 29, 2026. One selected recipient will receive a full roof replacement at no cost, extending the program’s mission from recognition to real, lasting impact.
