Haggen Closing Oregon City Store

Grocer had already announcing it was shutting stores in Happy Valley, West Linn. Hundreds to lose jobs

After months of speculation, Haggen Friday notified that its would shut its long-time store in Oregon City.

Earlier in the week it had announced it would also close stores in West Linn and Happy Valley.

According to filings with the state, scores are going to lose their jobs.

The grocery has been on the ropes pretty much since they bought 146 stores from Albertsons when they merged merged with Safeway.

In September, Haggen filed for bankruptcy.

Ina twist, they are selling several of the stores back to Albertsons.

Albertsons had been forced to sell stores by the Federal Trade Commission to promote competition.

Now, for at least four of those cities, there will be fewer places to shop than before the merger.
