Historic McDonald's Building In Portland To Be Demolished
The McDonald's is the country's third oldest location.

PORTLAND, OR -- The third oldest McDonald's location in the country will soon be demolished. Portland Eater reported the company plans to replace the historic building with a newer McDonald's, in line with other locations.
The McDonald's in the area of Southeast 91st and Powell is reminiscent of the classic McDonald's Americans visited in the 1950s and 1960s, the Eater reported.
"Original features of the building include a distinctive golden arch on each side, a slanted roof that overhangs the main windows where orders are made, and red and white stripes on the building’s sides," the news site wrote. "According to a company representative, the entire location will close on February 22 for reconstruction, and will eventually reopen with table service and self-service kiosks."

Christine CatheySue, a Portland resident, told KOIN she remembers when the restaurant offered the walk-up food service.
"It provides a bit of nostalgia that you can't replace and for my generations," CatheySue said. "t's worth fighting for to get some of these landmarks preserved."

McDonald's was founded in 1940 by Richard and Maurice McDonald with the concept of offering customers fast food. In 1955, Ray Kroc revamped the company and made it nationwide. The company now has locations in more than 100 countries.
